March-a-thon Clarification

This communication is provided to address questions and previous unintentional miscommunication regarding the March-a-thon.

March-a-thon Purposes:

  • Give back to the community in the form of personal concerts for gratitude of the community support.
  • Raise funds to support the entire CPHS band.

Clarification:

  • All personal concert proceeds, whether prearranged or arranged on the day of the March-a-thon, go to support the entire CPHS band.
  • All individual pledges, obtained by the band students, are divided between the student (70%) and to support the CPHS band (30%). No personal concerts will be allowed on the pledge sheets.

This is the structure used by other bands throughout the country. The reason "personal concerts" are not divided between students and band is

  • So all students will benefit from their hard work and
  • Because students who are not on the band route do not have the same advantage as students on the route. We cannot require students to help raise money for other individuals.
