Chaperone Information

The 2010 fall marching season is packed full of action with many events including LISD Band Night, Lock In,10 regular season football games – two of them are even on TV, marching contests,  a trip to Indianapolis for Grand Nationals and much more. Mike Haecker, Booster Vice President is responsible for the chaperones at all events and welcomes your participation. Riding to the game on a yellow dog has several advantages; you get fed, free admission into the game and you don’t have to remember where you parked. The contests can provide an opportunity to ride in a luxury coach to far away destinations. For a couple of lucky chaperones at each game will have an opportunity to view the band from on the field. The only way to do that is to be a chaperone.

The excitement of Texas high school football is in the air, and that means our very talented marching band will be on the move beginning August 27th. Even greater excitement begins in October when competitive marching shifts into full gear.

Chaperones ride on the buses with the band; work in the stands and remain with the band until dismissal upon return to the high school. Only chaperones, students and staff are permitted on the buses with the band or to sit with the band.

A game night goes something like this: The chaperones meet in the cafeteria for a bite to eat with the band and then have a pre-game briefing. After the briefing we board the buses for an on-time departure. Times may vary event to event. Prior to each game/event chaperones will be notified of their report time via email. *All chaperones must be an approved LISD volunteer*.

The Vice President of the boosters does all of the scheduling for the chaperones. The schedules are built based on the information that is collected on registration night. Parents should check their calendars and have some idea of availability when they come to register their band members. Do not trade assignments with a friend or spouse. All changes need to be cleared through the VP. Some chaperones have special assignments and we need to make sure those functions are covered.
