Please send a note to pit-pack@cphsband.org if you are scheduled for a game in which you cannot attend.  Also, if you are an approved LISD volunteer and can help with any of the above events, please let us know.  We will be happy to put you to work!

We will send out a reminder email each week prior to the game. We will also send out emails as we make any changes to the schedule.

One more note. If you are at the game and not already on the schedule, and you are an approved LISD Volunteer, drop by the pit area at about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. We occasionally have some last minute needs, and might be able to use you to help out.

Volunteers will be assigned to these games and other events as they arise. Send an email to pit-pack@cphsband.org if you feel there are any issues with the schedule. Remember you must be an approved LISD volunteer to help with the Pit-Pack.

Pit-Pack Equipment

The Pit-Pack is the moving force behind the CPHS Timberwolf Marching Band. We are a group of volunteers that assist the band student loading crew in moving the equipment on/off the field during performances at games and contests.

You might find it interesting to know how many people we need for Pit-Pack to efficiently support requirements for a performance. Here’s a sample based on prior year’s programs.

  • 3 small and 1 large Podium (5 Pit-Pack)
  • 2 Speakers (4 Pit-Pack)
  • 1 Sound Box (2 Pit-Pack + 1 Student)
  • 1 Timpani Cart (3 Pit-Pack + 1 Student)
  • 2 Percussion Racks (1 Pit-Pack + 1 Student)
  • 2 Bass Drums (2 Pit-Pack)
  • 2 Gongs (2 Pit-Pack)
  • 1 Generator (1 Pit-Pack)
  • 4 Marimbas (4 Students)
  • 4 Vibraphones (4 Students)
  • 1 Xylophone (1 Student)
  • 1 Synthesizer (1 Pit-Pack + 1 Student)

... And may also make an appearance later in the season...

  • Additional graphics for the show.  In 2010-2011 there were 8 banners needing 2 people each.
  • Concert French Horns – we had 10 students and/or 5 Pit-Packers per game assigned to this task
  • Additional items as contest season begins

Grand Total (beginning of the season: 14 students + 22 Pit-Pack volunteers + additional people (Pit-Pack and/or Students) to move equipment on/off the field during a performance.

As you can see, the number of Pit-Pack volunteers needed for a game or contest can be quite large. As we coordinate with the directors for this year's show, we will update this list to match the requirements. All items are on wheels and most are not heavy.
